Apologies for the downtime over the past few days – our hosts must have changed some configuration, meaning the site was down for some unknown reason. It’s been rectified now!
We’ve just finished the initial version of a new style, and – with the release of IE8 – we should be able to push that out in the near future, so keem ‘em peeled
Apologies for the downtime we had last week. Our hosts were changing servers and had some difficulties. This has now been sorted out.
Also, I have just sorted out a problem with the site where nothing would get past the front page. This was also a result of the servers changing and should be working now!
The more observant among you will notice that GLC now sports a brand-spanking-new design. Huzzah!
If you have any problems with it, please do drop us a line and we’ll get right on it.
On a related note, we have a new theme nearly completed. It’s a wedding theme – GLC is ideal for wedding lists, so we think this will be a popular theme
We will update here when it’s finished, so keep an eye out for it coming up soon.
Happy New Year! We at GLC hope that you had a good one
Here at GLC headquarters (OK, we don’t really have a headquarters, but just imagine for a moment) we have been cooking up some new year plans. A few changes have been made already (can you spot them?) – some of them will come soon.
The main thing you’ll notice is that we’ve added a few options when you create a gift list. You can now select a list style (OK, currently there is only one style, but soon there will be more!) and you can also select a picture to upload which people will see when they view your gift list.
In store for the future, apart from creating some more list styles for you, we will be changing the design of the site and reworking how purchases / pledging works a bit to make it easier. We understand at the moment it’s not exactly crystal clear, so we’ll try and make it as easy as pie for people to use.
Watch this space! And, as always, feel free to send us your ideas and comments etc.
I’ve made a couple of other changes – a few changes to wording here and there to try and make it a bit clearer, as well as one more major change: you can now select a category when you’re adding a gift via the Bookmarklet.
In the window that pops up, when you select a gift list the list of categories is updated. Which means it should now be even easier for you to add gifts! Can’t say we never do anything for you…
I’ve made a couple of minor changes. On the ‘Manage List’ and ‘View List’ pages, if you click on a gift URL the page should open in a new window.
The other thing is, the ‘Manage List’ page no longer shows the number of gifts that have been purchased – you have to click through to the “View Purchases” page.
This is based on feedback we have received – if you have any further ideas or suggestions, please drop us a line!
I’ve added a Blog to the GLC website. If you’re reading this on the GLC website (probably), then it has been successful!
This is the place where we will keep you updated on news about site changes and the like.
You can leave comments if you click through to the actual blog post (click on the blog title).
I have updated the site. There are now two more features:
1. A ‘bookmarklet’ which will let you add gifts from a website that you’re on. For example, if you’re currently on Amazon looking at a book, you can just click on a link in your browser and it will automatically pop up a window to add it with most of the details filled in.
For more info, log in to GLC and then view this page. It’s still in the fairly early stages at the moment so expect a few changes here and there, but it has been tested to work on IE7 and Firefox 3.
2. You can now get a printable version of a gift list. Look for the ‘Printable Version’ button on the gift list pages.
Hi, and welcome to the Gift List Central blog.
I thought it would be a good idea to host the blog externally, so that we don’t have to host a WordPress installation ourselves (probably would have clashed with CodeIgniter or something, and I didn’t want to write our own blog system).
I will update this site with new information regarding GLC whenever it is updated!
Your friendly GLC webmaster,
Phill (& Matthew)
